PANIC PLEX

Panic Plex was made for a Brackey's game jam. Our team consisted of roughly 4 members and our game was made in a week. This project helped me improve my design and art skills because there was so much feedback from other jammers.

Logo Design

Unity & Pixel Studio

In Panic Plex, you are a nightguard at a local mall defeating monsters with your flashlight. When I drew the initial logo, I was not sure if just the flashlight would be understood if players had yet to see gameplay. A compounding issue was that the enemy spawn system took time to load our first enemy, creating time when the player had nothing to do. The animated light rays were able to fix both issues! My design will showcase the main game mechanic while also creating time for the first enemy to be instantiated so the player can be instantly thrust into the gameplay.

Scene Transition

Unity & Pixel Studio

The gameplay was limited to one scene, and we hoped this would allow for an easier scene transition... we were wrong. The cinemachine camera did not instantly teleport with the player and, with the time restraints of a game jam, we prioritized working with what we already had set up and ready to go. Times like this make my design brain excited and moving. My idea was to have the nightguard (in full Paul Blart fashion) ride across the screen on a segway. We were able to use pre-existing assets while creating a fun and visually appealing yet lengthy scene transition capable of properly concealing our camera movement.
